I got the lifetime alignment for my '78 Datsun and my '90 Civic. Back then they were under $20. I put 230,000 miles on the Datsun and over 400,000 miles (and still going) on the Civic. I'm gonna say it was well worth the money, especially since alignments now cost $50 to $75 a pop. Paid about $150 for a lifetime alignment at Firestone 10 years ago. So far I have about 9 alignments out of it. They do an OK job and they basically always refuse to use the alignment features on my UCA but I eventually learned where to set it myself before bringing it to them.There is a Firestone in my neighborhood, and they have a really good reputation -- I usually stay away from non-dealer national chains when it comes to car repairs, but these guys really are great. That said, I bought a lifetime alignment from them last winter and I got $40 off just for asking if the price was negotiable.An alignment is pretty much always recommended when replacing tires in order to promote even wear and longest lifespan. I'm not sure how long you plan on keeping the car but firestone used to offer (and maybe still do) a Lifetime alignment for I think like $175.
